Saturday, September 15th, Leslie, Jessica and Karen taught a great group of almost 35 girl scouts. Monica brough along siblings Hannah and Cowboy for the lessons.
For our first lesson we read Are You Ready For Me? and discussed the proper way to care for a dog. The girls each wrote recommendations for Hannah and Cowboy using Microsoft Word.
For the second lesson Leslie led an exercise to demonstrate the importance of spay/neuter. Each girl was given a "Dog" represented by a colored piece of paper. Then they were to pretend their dogs each had a litter of puppies also represented by colored pieces of paper and were to find enough space around them for each dog to live. They very quickly realized that even just one litter of puppies became a huge responsiblity and large need for space and resources.
Our third lesson focused on the cost of owning and caring for a dog. The girls learned how to use Microsoft Excel to calculate the costs of owning and properly caring for a dog. We figured that in the first year alone one could spend almost $1,000 and that doesn't even include vet expenses.
Finally, the girls used Microsoft Power Point to create flyers to educate others on all they had learned during the day.
See below for pictures of the day's events as well as the recommendations written by the Girl Scouts.

- Hannah is very good with children

Hannah would be happiest with a family with children that have lots of energy and time to play with her. Hannah has been introduced to some bathroom rules but she would need an understanding and helpful family. But Hannah is such a sweet dog she wouldn’t be any problems for a loving family.
